As a general rule, children who are taking medicines prescribed by a doctor are not well enough to be at school. We make exceptions in the case of asthma and some minor illnesses – please ask the office staff if you are not sure. However, parents should note that school staff are not allowed to give medicines to children, unless the child needs emergency medication and has a medical care plan, although they will supervise a child self-administering medicine.
All medicines should be sent to the school office, except for asthma medication, which is kept available to the child in their own classroom.
It is the parent’s responsibility to make sure that medicine is labelled with the child’s name, the correct dosage and expiry date. Please make sure you let us know if the medicine must be taken with your child on a school trip.
